Stop being a loser
I was born competitive. I love winning, I fucking hate losing.
Want to spark me into a frenzy? Stir up my competitive nature. Story time — when we were opening up our first store in Port Dalhousie me and Carmine were outside painting the wood that would become our bar. I’d poured most of my savings into this venture — if it didn’t work we were fucked. Some old guy walks up — looks at us — asks “what is this going to be?” I look up and I say “it’s going to be a coffee shop”. This guy looks down the street at the other coffee shop and says “good luck”.
In a couple weeks we’ll cut the red ribbon on our second location.
We live in a world that shelters us from competition. We have participation trophies and the fucking narrative is that being competitive is bad. Being competitive is not bad and whoever says that it is is a fucking loser. You will literally compete for everything in this world. We have 7 billion fucking people on the planet and that means that whatever you want someone else probably wants it too.
Lean in to your competitive nature. Embrace it. Let it fuel you. Dominance hierarchies have been found in creatures as simple as lobsters — it’s in all of us. Don’t let society or this overly PC culture stop you from competing.
