“Make each day your masterpiece” — John Wooden

Before I nailed down my morning routine, my energy levels were all over the place. Some days I would wake up like Tony Montana in the last scene of SCARFACE and other times I’d feel more like Bambi. My good mornings would trail into great days and my not so good mornings would end with long naps and days lost in a perpetual haze.

Over the past 6 months I’ve slowly created an ideal morning practice, it’s not perfect and it might not even work for you, but take what you can from it and create your own bad ass morning routine. Own the morning, own the day.

  1. Go to sleep at the same time every night.

Okay so my ideal morning actually starts at night. Going to bed at roughly the same time each night (give or take 15 minutes) has been incredibly helpful in making sure that I have a restful sleep. I usually sleep through the night and wake up at 6am.

2.) I make my bed.

It’s a small victory and you’re future self will thank you.

3.) Wake up and journal.

The first thing I do when I wake up is my 5 Minute Journal. It’s a simple daily gratitude practice that gets you on the right foot each morning. They also have a nightly practice in the journal that I do right before bed. The link above is not some way for me to monetize this post, I just really like the journal! Check it out, I promise it’ll make a positive difference in your day.

4.) I do shrooms.

Lions Mane is an incredible mushroom that has been shown to relieve mild symptoms of anxiety and depression, the shroom has also shown to help prevent dementia. You can take it in capsule form or some companies make it as a drink. I’m a big fan of Four Sigmatic’s Lion Mane Elixir. Once again, this is not some paid bullshit, I just like it. No, you won’t trip out on these shrooms, sorry.

5.) Gym time.

There is nothing like working out in the morning. You already have a big win on the day and you carry that energy with you!

6.) Coffee.

The last thing I do before moving into the rest of my day is I drink some coffee. Recently it’s been 416 Coffee Co.’s Ethiopian. This is completely biased because I own the company, but hey, we make some damn good coffee.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Tell me about your morning practices and how you take control of your mornings.
