As a 21 year old scraping and stumbling through the early years of running a business, I often find that everyone likes to talk shit. Family members, friends, and even complete strangers, all have a lot to say about what I should be doing according to their expert opinions. Here is the thing:

EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE OF THEM HAS A JOB

Let me explain. If you have a 9 to 5 job, you have no right to “talk shit” about someone breaking out on their own. You don’t get it. You couldn’t get it if you tried. You rely on someone else for your income. So shut the fuck up.

I’ll give you an example. I watch a lot of basketball. I play no basketball. I’m 5'7 in my shoes with very thick soles and I couldn’t make a layup if my life depended on it. Now, if Lebron James was walking down the street while I happened to be shaking change out of my pocket to buy pizza, and I stopped him and told him that he should try stepping differently when he shot, what do you think he would say? He would probably give me a polite nod. In his head he’d be thinking something like “what do you know you short shit stain”.

Now hear me out. I’m not saying you shouldn’t listen to anyone who gives you advice. I’m sure we can all think back to a time when we were given invaluable advice from someone who we now look up to as a mentor. What I’m saying is that we need to be very selective with the advice we actually absorb. People that shit out opinions to bring you down or make themselves sound like fucking geniuses should be ignored.

Just remember:

If you are an entrepreneur, you are on the court. Everyone else is just in the stands.
