Entrepreneur: a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.

Look at the definition above. Re-read “greater than normal financial risk” now ask yourself, why would anyone want to be an entrepreneur. It’s emotionally, physically, and mentally taxing. It puts you in a position to completely ruin your life financially, romantically, and physically. Yet, it’s still glorified in the media.

We hear the success stories, the Bill Gates, the Steve Jobs, and the Howard Schultz. We here about the billion dollar valuations, the Rolex watches, and the big boats. We don’t hear about the depression, the failure, the ruined marriages, and the financial catastrophes.

Being an entrepreneur isn’t fucking cool. So think long and hard about why you want to go on this journey. If the words money or fame come to mind, move on. Make sure you’re doing this because it makes you happy, the setbacks, the struggle, embrace it all.

You need to enjoy the process. The process will last for years or decades, the successes will be temporary blips on the radar. The setbacks will just push you further back into the process. So you have to enjoy the grind, the hustle, the late nights, and the early mornings.
